Our Darlin', Alysa

These are a few cute pics of Alysa, one with her friend, Kate. She's getting all ready for fall and lovin' it! Can you tell, by her boots? She's going to need them, too. It's already gotten quite chilly here, but it a very welcomed change for us. Isn't she growing up to be a beauty? She'll be 9 in just a few weeks! Where does the time go? She's just as sweet as she looks, too. We love her so very much.

1. Long, curly eyelashes - I have spent no telling how much $ to find a mascara that will give me the lashes I crave. I finally found XXL Curlpower by Maybelline. Love - it!!
2. Comfy jeans.....slenderizing, not too tight or too baggy
3. Fleece....in all shapes and forms
4. Hot chocolate with whipped creme
5. Fall....and everything associated with it
6. People who are where they say they're going to be when they say they're going to be there!

8. Laughing.....HA! Ha-Ha!!

Best and Worst of Times

I can't believe it! It's finally time for Perry to come back from Iraq!! He's been there for seven months, which means we've been in Kentucky for seven months!! This coming Sunday, we will be traveling to North Carolina, where Perry and the others from 3-6 will land on US soil around 11 a.m the following day (27th). I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!! He has already requested to eat at Chili's (his favorite restaurant) for dinner. Of course I told him we could go anywhere he wanted to! So far, his plans are to leave for Lake Charles, LA around November 15 to work in the recruiting office for a month. Then back to NC for a short time and then, hopefully, he'll get a Christmas leave. Naturally, I want him to come to Kentucky to see his mommy. We'll see....which reminds me.....I've been very sad that Wes and Wendy and the babies aren't going to get to come at Christmas like I was hoping. I've tried to be very strong about this, as I've never been away from my boys at Christmas. Times, they are a changin', and my babies are growing up. Not being with my family during this special time of year is going to be the hardest thing about living here. Sigh.

I have to admit, I have spent way too much time reading the Twilight series and loved every minute of it, although I did feel guilty that I wasn't reading my scriptures instead. And I also have to admit I was just a teensy bit jealous of Bella- in some ways. Though, I do have to say, Mark had the same effect on me as Edward does on her when we were dating. That's a good thing, right? Yes, that's a very good thing! Mark was glad when I finally finished so he could have his wife back. Uh-oh!!! I just found out there's a 5th book!!

Fall Fun

This past weekend we had some fun in our little town of Richmond. It was nothing like my hometown county fair, which by the way was going on this past weekend. But it kept Alysa and some of her friends occupied for a while and it was good to get out of the house. It was a bit chilly, but beautiful outside. They played games, where they won Halloween prizes, got their faces painted and went on a hayride. We also enjoyed a warm, delicious funnel cake and some kettle corn. We ended the evening with some very tasty barbecue at Sonny's, then a slumber party at our house. It was quite an enjoyable day. On Sunday, we went to look at the house and took our sweet friends, the Jasenski's, with us. The youngest of their family is Alex, 2, and he had a hayday climbing up into all the big equipment there in the lot beside the house. His favorite was the Bobcat. Although, he wore a path out between the Bobcat, rock pile, excavator and back to the Bobcat. He was none too happy about having to leave. But we promised him a trip back out on another day.

House - Week #9

Wow!! I can't believe it's already week 9! Sooo much happened this past week. Let me see if I can remember it all......well, the biggest thing is the framers finished up their work and are now off the jobsite; the plumbing and electrical has been roughed-in; the concrete floor was poured in the garage; the roofers started laying the shingles; and the brickers started laying the brick. Believe it or not, we are still wresteling with the tile issue. It has been, really, the only headache so far........well, once we got past the brick selection. I plan on trying to tackle that issue tomorrow, along with getting the stain mixed for the stairs and banister. Then I've got to really focus on lighting. Yikes! That's going to be a big job, I'm afraid. Soon I will start taking pictures of the inside. Stay tuned!

Changing Seasons

I must say that I don't remember ever experiencing such a beautiful fall. The leaves on the trees started changing colors in September!! Everywhere I look, there are bright, vivid reds, oranges and yellows....just like on a calendar! Of course, we've had a very dry summer, so the colors aren't even near what they would normally be. But they are spectacular compared to what I've been use to. It's like a wonderland every day. I drive Alysa to school and see the rolling pastures and fields, freshly cut or harvested, the old barns, the sun peeking over the hills and then the pops of color everywhere. Just like God painted a beautiful new picture to take my breath away.
